MegaMan and Press To Start 2p

We are very fan of Megaman whole design:

• No game explanation,  user just have to start and test things , and discover the rules

• We put minimum text on the game, and effort on how user understand what he is up to

• Just as homage, we used for start button and  game over screen "Press To Start 2p" font :
  <<Press Start 2P is a bitmap font based on the font design from 1980s Namco arcade games. It works best at sizes of 8px, 16px and other multiples of 8. Although the design of uppercase letters and digits dates back to Atari’s “Sprint” (1977), the specific glyph forms in this TrueType conversion are based on those from “Return of Ishtar” (1986), one of the first games to include and regularly use lowercase as well as uppercase letters in its screen font. Unlike the original font from the “Return of Ishtar” ROM, Press Start 2P includes a wide variety of non-ASCII Unicode characters for pan-European use, including Greek and Cyrillic. 4 colors

We chose to have limited number of colors, only 4, White, Black, Yellow, Green
First version during development Yellow was meant to be Gold and Green meant to mean ground, a kind of digging to discover the gold, we tried images and other texture, but looks bad, and we backed to simple colors, we like it so far.

Chiptune not cheap music but chip music

The iconic sounds of arcade games from the '80s and '90s are often associated with 8-bit music, which is also known as chiptune or chip music.

These sounds were produced by sound chips of vintage computers, consoles, and arcade machines, which had very limited audio capabilities by today's standards. Many of these machines could only generate sound in "beeps" and "boops" of various pitches and durations, thus leading to the characteristic bleepy, synthesized sounds we often associate with 8-bit music.

These 8-bit sound chips were only capable of producing a few simultaneous sounds or "voices" at once, and they lacked the ability to reproduce the full range of audio frequencies that modern digital audio can. This resulted in a distinctively retro sound that many people find nostalgic today.

Nowadays, musicians can use modern software to replicate these sounds, often to give their music a retro, nostalgic feel reminiscent of old-school video games.

Shape Theory sound effect are musly based on chiptunes.
